Stormwater runoff in cities can often contain pollutants that could adversely affect water quality, and construction sites can be a major source of stormwater pollution if not managed correctly. Erosion and sediment control helps keep pollutants out of drainageways and helps keep our water safe and clean.
An Erosion and Sediment Control Permit is required for most construction activities. Applicants must receive approval of this permit before any ground-disturbing activity can take place. You can find the City's Erosion and Sediment Control Permit application form, along with other helpful erosion and sediment control resources, on this page.
For construction sites that disturb an area of one acre or greater in size, a 1200-C Construction Stormwater General Permit is required by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). You can find the permit form and other resources on the DEQ's website.
